Twirley's Showbar opened it's doors in January 2008 billing itself as the most exclusive Gay venue in the West of Ireland.Twirley's is run by local entrepreneur and former Miss alternative Galway Eamonn Cunniss who some people might remember from his appearance on Eddie Hobb's tv show.
Twirley's is both a bar and a club with two floors to choose from at the weekends. The premises itself was formerly Club Pi and before that Church Lane Nightclub so the place is well designed with a large dance floor and good sound system for serious clubbers. Located on the main thoroughfare in Galway City, Twirleys has a large glass fronted balcony which looks out onto Shop Street and gives one of the best views of the pedestrian area of Galway. Entertainment wise Twirley's operates as a club Friday to Saturday opening until 2am. Eden Experience host weekly gigs including a Friday night lesbian party. Twirley's also plays host to a diverse rang of unusual theme nights including Karaoke every Thursday night. Even if you are not Gay, Lesbian or transgendered Twirley's is worth checking out.
