Thank You from Galway Arts Festival! Galway Arts Festival 2008 has come to a close enjoying its most successful year ever with record attendances and box office records broken. Galway City is expected to enjoy a windfall of €25 Million from the two weeks of the Festival. Festival Artistic Director, Paul Fahy commented, “We are absolutely thrilled with the response from our Festival audiences. It was fantastic to see standing ovations across the city on a nightly basis and our artists were thrilled with the Galway audience response. It was great to the city streets packed to capacity on a nightly basis with people enjoying the Festival atmosphere and to hear the enthusiastic discussion of people’s Festival experiences and opinions as shows finished in various venues throughout the city. We hope that both artists and audiences will be left with many special Festival memories.” The new, spectacular Festival Big Top, which dominated the city’s skyline for the past two weeks, came down last week at the Fisheries Field and the last of the Festival’s artists, companies, production crews and international visitors and media left the city following what has been one of the most successful ever Galway Arts Festival. Festival Managing Director John Crumlish added, “We are very grateful to The Arts Council, all of our Funding Agencies, Sponsors and Friends of the Festival for their ongoing support and commitment to the Festival and we look forward to working with you all again next year. We had a terrific response to this year’s Festival and a great reaction to our new Festival Big Top.” Finally, Galway Arts Festival would like to thank all of our audiences, local, national and international, for your continued support. Galway Arts Festival 2009 takes place from July 13TH – 26TH next year. We look forward to welcoming you back to Galway and the Festival next July.
