The Crane is a renowned Irish traditional venue situated in the West end of Galway City. Traditional music is on the menu here seven nights a week. This corner pub has a beautiful Victorian façade from the 1800’s, Consisting of two levels, the bar on the first floor is a local favourite while upstairs comes alive every night for music sessions at 9.30. Even though the Crane is tucked away in the west end of the City it is the first stop for many music lovers on their visit to the City due to its reputation as alive music venue. Over the last few years the Crane has widened its musical offering with roots, blues and singer songwriter added to the musical menu. The bar downstairs features lots of amateur musicians dropping in for spontaneous sessions while upstairs every night at 9.30 there is an Irish Trad group or performer. The downstairs bar has lots of sturdy seating and has a wonderful atmosphere while upstairs is an open plan room with a stage and seating along the walls accomodating around 70 people. It gets busy pretty much every night especially during the summer so if you want to listen to the music upstairs an early arrival is advisable. The sessions upstairs have an almost concert like feel, as talking is discouraged when the music is playing and you can fully appreciate the wonderful performers in this unique atmosphere. Sea Road
