Opened in Summer 2007, Bar No 8 definitely brought something new to the Galway Pub scene . Inside Bar 8, it looks as though someone has decided to put a bar in an underground carpark. The walls and ceiling are uniformly grey, however the look works.The stout tables & wooden chairs fit well in the sparse surroundings. The small bar stocks a good range of drinks with beers such as Galway Hooker and Leffe on tap as well as the normal options.

There is also a small Wine list although it is more than the majority of pubs. Small bar snacks such as olives, chees plates and stuffed peppers are available which compliments the cosmopolitan feel. No.8 looks out onto the docks and undoubtedly will blossom as the area continues to be regenerated. Billing itself as a live music venue as well as bar, the large room is adaptable for most events be it DJ or Live Band and  also occasionally salsa dancing. In January 08-Alabama 3 (remember the Sopranos theme) played a sold out charity event here.

No.8 is definitely something different for the Galway scene. Elements of a wine bar, tapas bar and New York underground bar are fused together to make a venue that really works. While you won't get many tourists venturing in here, bar No.8 is undoubtedly a great addition to the Galway Pub Scene
