Carrolls is located in a beautiful building with a cut stone facade on one of Galway's oldest streets. This pub has many surprises in store for visitors. This pub was  previously called McAlindens until summer 2013 and before that was known as Cartys. There are a few remnants of both eras throughout the pub. Inside you will find one of the longest bar counters in Galway, stretching from the front to the back of the pub. There is also lots of comfortable seating along the wall. Carrolls is a local bar with a loyal clientele which ensures a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Music sessions take place regularly just inside the front door.

However out the back of the pub has undergone a radical transformation taking advantage of a large open area to create one of the best beer gardens in the City. A double decker bus has been converted to a pizza kitchen and seating areas with the Pizza cooked by local operators Crust Bucket. The bus also plays host to some music gigs. The beer garden has proved to be immensely popular drawing huge crowds when the weather is fine and every Saturday night.

Although the Mcalinden family have long gone, you may be lucky enough to hear stories of their tough stance on music or singing which wasn't favourably looked upon and might have resulted in your removal from the premises.
