Late bar open until 2am-Friday and Saturday
Located on Quay Street, the Spanish Arch takes its name from one of Galway’s best known landmarks which is located nearby. The Pub has an attractive stone façade. Inside this large pub there are two bars and lots of snug type seating to choose from. Part of the Pub was once a 16th century Carmelite convent and there is also wood panelling taken from the home of famous actress Lily Langtry . Its central location and the adjoining hotel means there will always be a few people in here no matter what time of day.
The food is well worth a look with a simple well produced lunch and dinner menu.
Smokers have some good options here, for as well as having a seated area outside on Quay Street, the pub also backs onto Kirwans lane and its attractive courtyard.
The Spanish Arch has built up a solid reputation for live music. Especially popular are their Irish music sessions early in the week with acts such as Alale . The musicians are young and energetic and play a progressive style of high tempo trad music very popular with tourists. At the weekend's Soft Rock covers bands churn out the hits.
