Nicknamed "Galways meeting place", The Skeff bar is part of the impressive Skeffington Arms Hotel. Situated on the west side of Eyre Sq, The Skeff is one of Galway’s biggest pubs reputedly accommodating up to 1500 people on it’s several levels. It is beautifully and intricately decorated throughout with lots of wood carvings and elegant touches. There is also an impressive chandelier hanging in one of the bars and Victorian furniture scattered throughout. A hotel has operated from these premises since the 1850s.
There is lots of space with a six bars to choose from and there is plenty of seating to accommodate large groups together so it’s a great place for parties. The 1852 Bar concentrates on all things Whiskey. The Skeff has always been popular as a meeting place due to its central location and proximity to bus stops and the Railway station.
It is also very popular place to eat with a carvery lunch and sandwich bar during the day and a late menu served until 9pm. Whatever time you come here you will always find a crowd. There is live music several nights a week but it’s the weekend when this place really gets going. Any Friday or Saturday night you are guaranteed to see at least one Hen party. The dress code is fairly smart and you get young and old mixing here.
If you are in Galway for any length of time, at some stage you are going to end up in here, day or night
